An upcoming artiste, TMI has been threatened by a well-known producer, Mr Kleb for recording a cover of the producer’s released beat. The artist, a big fan of the producer, recorded the cover in order to increase his social engagements and was shocked to receive a threat from the producer.
The artist was concerned that the producer was not practicing what he had preached in terms of supporting upcoming acts and was further confused when the producer threatened to terminate his streaming accounts if he doesn’t delete the cover from streaming platforms.
The artist has posed the question of whether upcoming artists are allowed to do a cover of someone’s production after its official release. This issue has been eating away at the artist and has sparked a debate among industry professionals.

I need your views and takes on this very issue that’s eaten me up as an upcoming artist.
So I recorded a cover of Mr kleb released beat titled “Spaceship Ridimm” to boaster my social engagements and then got threatened by Mrkleb that I should drop down my cover which has gained so much traffic globally from lovers of my good music and social behaviour.
My concern is that, I have been a big fan of Mr kleb and as well learned a lot from how he drives his music crafts but what baffles me is that he isn’t practicing what he claimed to be preaching as he cannot support the upcoming acts according to his career prowess.
How can you threatened your big fan to turn down a cover he did using your ideal production that you also extracted from another without proper channelings and agreements as well?
I’m not even saying that Mr kleb is a bad person but he needs to understand that we supported him to where he is today, with our love and supports. we did that diligently and comfortably because we took him as our very own product that will give back to where he hails from unless he’s not representing us as he claims to.
Right now Mr Kleb has it to my face that his distributor will terminate all my streaming accounts if I don’t delete the cover I did on his released beat.
My question is; are upcoming artists allowed to do a cover of someone’s production after it’s official release?
