On the issue of water scarcity in Bauchi metropolis and environ - Kaura Media Team
Let me use this opportunity to thank the good people of Bauchi for their patience, support and understanding over the scarcity of water supply due to the ongoing massive water rehabilitation project under stewardship of his Excellency Gov Bala Mohammed. And further to call on them to exercise more forbearance as well due to the inadequacy.
On the other hand, also to let you know that it is not a deliberate act by the administration of Gov Bala Mohammed to purge people into unnecessary hardship. Even though the opposition is trying to paint a different scenario on the current scarcity just to score a cheap political goal. Despite the fact, we know that criticism from the opposition is inevitable but it’s also fair to criticise fairly as well.
Furthermore, If we can all recall this water rehabilitation project started under the APC administration of MA Abubakar and World Bank who gave the state loan to execute it but he failed to do the needful on the part of the government when he was the then governor not until Gov Bala Mohammed came on board and sees the need to put an end to the problem of incessant water scarcity in the state by intervening to see the water project come to fruition for the benefit of generality irrespective interest instead of abandoning the project. And as of now, World Bank has started deducting its loan from the state coffers.
And mind you, this not the only abandoned project of his predecessor that he embarked upon in the state which is visible for all to acknowledge. Despite the paucity of funds, Gov Bala has not relented in his exertions to move the state to greater heights.
However, following the scarcity of water within the Bauchi metropolis and environs Gov Bala has ordered the State Water Board to supply portable water to those affected community or suffering pending the completion of the water rehabilitation project in the state in due time.
I want to reassure the citizens that Gov Bala feel their pains and he is doing everything within his capacity to put an end to problems confronting his administration within the shortest possible time. We admonished our concerned citizens to support and pray for him.
