Gloria Carter (mama HOV), the mother of renowned rapper Jay-Z, walk down the aisle with Roxanne Wilshire on Sunday evening(2nd June,2023) in New York.
TMZ reports that Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, Tina Knowles-Lawson, Tyler Perry, and Robin Roberts were among those who attended the star-studded wedding in Tribeca and subsequent reception that sources said didn’t conclude until around 1 a.m.
Roxanne was wearing a stunning gold and white dazzling dress, and Gloria was dressed in a white suit, when the newlyweds left the party.
Jay-Z has been very supportive of Gloria, who came out as a lesbian in his song “Smile” from 2017. She intervened in the song to talk about “living in the shadows” as a gay woman.
In his rap,he said “Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicates/Society shame and the pain was too much to take,”
“Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”he rapped
When he learned that his mother had fallen in love, Jay-Z admitted in an interview with David Letterman for the Netflix series My Next Guest Needs No Introduction that he had cried with delight.
