Gov Bala Commissioned the upgraded Bauchi water plant to end 17 years epileptic water supply in the state
Again, in his quest to provide his people with potable water supply and to ensure the sustenance and consolidation of the gains of the reform of the water sector, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed has commissioned a water project which is a Sixty Five Million Dollars($65 millions) World Bank assisted project that his administration keyed into for the benefit of his people.
When his administration came into office, water situation in the state was deplorable and the Water Treatment Plants had reduced in production performance to about eight per cent, due to unimaginable neglect by past administrations and the managerial deficiencies of erstwhile operators.
The $65 million dollars water project Include the construction of 11,000 cubic metres concrete reservoir in Warinje hill and an additional 7,000 cubic metres of another concrete reservoir located at Buzaye Hills respectively.
It has also rehabilitate and upgrade the 800-millimetre main pipeline to 1000 millimetres and with 500 millimetres pipeline to Buzaye Hill reservoir.
However, the heavy-duty booster pump has been replaced with a new machine in Bauchi metropolitan, while four (4) additional water filter has been constructed and also the dosing pumps for chemical has been replaced with a new machine.
The rehabilitated and upgraded water treatment plant, would increase water production from 10 per cent to 80 per cent production capacity and would also eliminate incidences of waterborne diseases. The plant will now conveniently supply about 75 million litres of water to about 621,000 residents of Bauchi metropolis and its environs on daily basis. With this upgrade and rehabilitation of the Water Scheme will be putting an end to 17 years of epileptic water supply to the people of the state and neighbouring towns.
The scheme, which has a production capacity of 75 million )litre of water per day, is the largest water production scheme in the state, supplying potable water to 85 per cent of the entire populace in Bauchi metropolis, as well as the communities.
This record breaking achievements was made possible due to the commitment of PDP led administration of Gov Bala in delivering dividends of democracy to good people of Bauchi as promised.
