Geography Department Gombe State University Embark On Tree Planting Exercise
23rd August 2021 marks a memorable day at the Gombe State University community as the staff and students of postgraduate studies of the department of Geography Gombe state university went on a tree planting exercise.
The occasion of the tree planting was graced with the presence of the vice-chancellor of the Institution in the person of Prof. Ibrahim M. Umar OON his entourage was also graced with the Registrar Prof M.A Yuguda
Head of departments of Physics, Botany, Chemistry and other departments from the faculty of science and other faculties in the institution.

The tree planting exercise was kicked started by the VC after the head of the department of Geography Prof Lazarus A. Mbaya had welcomed the heads of departments, head of works department, all the staff of the geography department and other staff from various departments/ units of the school community that made it to the August occasion that was done in August.
The tree planting exercise was done near the new Boys hostel of the university and the seedlings planted were Guavas, mango, mahogany, and cashew all are high breed varieties. The VC commended the effort and initiative of the geography department for having the insight, he further encourages other departments to emulate and follow suit and after his planting exercise the VC gave directives that more trees be planted within the school community and should be next week Saturday, He further reminds the importance of trees planting to man and the environment.

The event concludes with all heads of departments planting their tree and other staffs followed suits especially lecturers of the department of Geography like Dr Mrs Rebecca Sati, Dr Yusuf, Dr Idoma Kim, Mr Abdulrashid, And a host of other respected lecturers in the department and other departments.
