The dogged commitment of Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State in providing good governance to his people has today been recognized and celebrated by his constituents, the media.
Governor Bala Mohammed was awarded as the 2020 best Governor of year as most improved state in socio – economic development and empowerment , in a colorful and most memorable event at Transcorp , Hilton Abuja
by the Board of Directors and management of the Business Day Newspaper.
The Theme of the event which was “ REWARDING EXCELLENCE IN GOVERNANCE “ was primarily chosen to single out leaders and other Nigerians who have improved the socio – economic well-being of their people in their respective areas of jurisdictions .
It is a well known fact that the primary responsibility of any Government is to protect the lives and properties of its citizens , in addition to the provision of services to the people . To go in turn with this conceptions , Good roads must be constructed , Schools and hospitals must be well funded , clean water and other infrastructure must be provided . When these are done, jobs will be created, businesses will thrive, and in the end more revenue to government. This to my conviction were the parameters used in arriving at the nomination of the people’s Governor , Bala Mohammed .
In his welcome address , the managing Director of Business Day Newspaper , Dr. Ogho Okiti said , the National Discourse and Good governance Award came to being to provide an independent feedback mechanism to states on different policies , programs and projects and the effect such actions are having on the socio – economic well-being of the citizens of their states.
Governor Bala Mohammed was represented at the award presentation by his chief of staff Dr Muhammed Ladan Salihu who thanked the organizers of the event for showing interest in Bauchi State and for the recognition and support accorded the Governor and the Government of Bauchi State in its determination to create a new Bauchi state that shall remain in the path of growth and development .
The event was chaired by the former Head of State , General Yakubu Gowon Rtd and His Royal Highness Alh . Aminu Ado Bayero was the Royal Father of the Day . Fifteen State Governors and other prominent Nigerians have equally received different categories of awards.
