Husbands openly discuss CBS and go to facilities to access services, especially condoms

Development Committee (WDC), Ganjuwa Local Government Council, has condemned the scarcity of Child Birth Spacing (CBS) commodities in the region, particularly condoms.

The WDC Chairman, Mr Mustpha Ibrahim, made the observation on Monday when Kafin Madaki Primary Healthcare Center (PHC) visited the Bauchi State Public Health Media Network.

The out-of-stock of CBS goods in Kafin Madaki PHC was attributed by Ibrahim to the high demand for services by men in the region.
He said that husbands were becoming considerate with regard to consistency and a healthy lifestyle in particular.

“Husbands openly discuss CBS and go to facilities to access services, especially condoms.

“The person in charge told me during a meeting that condoms finish first out of other CBS commodities because men are coming for the services.


“CBS is well accepted because we have parents coming for premarital counseling with intended couples. Our volunteers are conducting house to house for the success of CBS,” he said.
The President of the WDC appealed to the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency to use CBS products in the health centre to discourage unplanned pregnancies.

Mr Sani Usman, the deputy in charge of PHC Kafin Madaki, said earlier that no less than 60 CBS clients have monthly access to the facilities.

Usman said the facilities were out of stock of childbirth spacing products in October.
“In October, PHC was out of stock but this is because of an increase in the number of clientele recorded,” Usman said.
He noticed that some problems faced with CBS were because mild side effects were experienced by the new customers and the officials nevertheless adequately advised them.
